A New Pharmacy is Coming to Quincy! Here’s Why That Matters

by | Jul 2, 2025

Big things are happening at your local NFMC center in Quincy — and if you’ve seen the construction signs and “pardon our dust” flyers, you already know something exciting is underway.

We’re proud to share that a new on-site pharmacy is coming to the Jessie Furlow Medical Center, with plans to open in early 2026. This project isn’t just about adding a building — it’s about improving your care, your convenience, and your health.

Why a Pharmacy, and Why Here?

Getting the medications you need shouldn’t be a challenge. But for many patients, it can be. Transportation issues, affordability, and lack of support around how and when to take medications all affect your health. Our CEO, Lane, shared the heart of our decision best:

“Medication adherence is paramount to a healthier community. Increasing access to quality healthcare includes increasing access to the medications that support that care.”

By placing the pharmacy right here where you already receive medical and dental care, we remove some of the biggest barriers our patients face — and we’re making sure the help you need is all in one place.

What Will the Pharmacy Offer?

You’ll get more than just prescription pickups. NFMC’s pharmacy will offer:

  • Medication counseling to help you understand when to take your meds, what to avoid, and how they help.

  • One-on-one medication reviews to make sure nothing is missing — or causing side effects.

  • Access to our discounted pharmaceutical program, helping you afford prescriptions at prices often lower than big box pharmacies.

What Does This Mean for You?

  • You won’t need a second trip across town after your appointment.

  • You’ll have expert help understanding your medications.

  • You’ll be supported in sticking to your treatment plan — because we know that better medication access means better health outcomes.

What’s Next?

We’re aiming to complete construction in the first quarter of 2026. Once the structure is up, we’ll begin hiring experienced pharmacy staff who share our mission and commitment to patient care.

In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated right here on our website — and we want to hear from you!
